So, we finally redid the Princess Room for Schprid's main Christmas Present. And I finally have a camera with which to take pictures of said room. It went from this:
Note the too-bright walls, |
Recurring, hit-you-over-the-head Princess theme, broken wall lights, |
and dark purple carpet. |
To this:
So much lighter! |
Oops... that butterfly is doing a nosedive off the window... |
I like the colors. Very feminine. |
No more broken lights! |
Schprid was enjoying jumping on her freshly-made bed during some of these... |
You can't see it, but there are pretty little butterflies on these see-through curtains. |
The butterflies on the walls are 3D. They originate at the wall, and then stick out about a foot by the time you reach the wingtips. So pretty! |
The carpet made a huge difference, too. No more dark purple!!! |
We're all pretty happy with how it turned out... minus the yellow pjs that should have been in the laundry for this picture...
We had the dresser and bookcase already, thanks to Grammy and some ingenuity. The rest of the decor actually came from my little sister, who has outgrown such things as butterflies in her bedroom. Schprid, however, will enjoy them for years to come.

Oh it is so cute! It looks way better. How long has schprid been sleeping in a "big girl" bed? I have been wanting to put addie in on but have no idea how to go about it.
Very very pretty. Which Grandmother is "Grammy?" Just curious because I am "Grammy" to my grandkids.
WV: fuladel -- a newly discovered ancient food that gives you energy all day long and is the reason many primitive tribes are so healthy.
Maria: Thanks for the compliment! We're pretty happy with how it turned out. Schprid has been in the big girl bed since Christmas day. We didn't put it on the frame- it's just the two mattresses on the floor. That way we don't worry so much if she falls out of bed. All we did was put her in the bed for naptime, sang her a couple of songs, and then went out and listened to our hearts break as she cried and cried and cried that first time. She finally fell asleep by the door. That night she cried again, but it wasn't so bad. Ever since then, she's been fine. We don't worry about her playing with toys or anything; she stays in her room and she's learning the responsibility of staying in bed/going to bed when she's tired. I don't know if that's the prescribed method, but it worked for us!
Aunt Lynn: "Grammy Cracker," as she likes to be called, is Hubby's mom. She's crazy, but we love her, but she's crazy. ;) Mom is finally resigned, I think, to being called "Grandma." I don't see anything terribly cutsie going over well with her in that regard!
Looks fantastic! I do love the butterflies!
