Our apartment rains. It doesn't affect us, but every time we take a shower our downstairs neighbors get a little more flooded. The owners have come by several times in the past week and tried to fix it. Each time they have left with the assurance that they've finally remedied the situation, only to show up again the next day when the problem has persisted. Finally the guy who was working on it decided that we were the problem- that we were splashing water out (unintentionally) when we shower. Ryan tried to tell him that, no, we were not the problem. It was more likely that the ancient grout around the shower was no longer intact and was in effect funneling water into the wall and down through the floor. The guy didn't listen. He told us to put a towel on the floor when we showered to catch any water that spilled. We did. It came out dry, when the wall just above it was soaked.
The situation came to a head this afternoon when the apartment manager came by to tell us that they had decided to vacate the apartment in order to do some maintenance work on it. We have until the 31st of this month to leave.
And so, we need boxes- maybe a couple from large appliances such as a refrigerator or washing machine. After all, we need somewhere to live while we figure out where we're going.

That is crazy! Are they allowed to kick you out like that? When does your contract end? I just told Curt, and coming from a construction perspective, he doesn't think it's necessary to vacate the apartment to fix the problem. We had a similar problem when we managed an apartment complex, and Curt fixed it just fine while the tenants were living there. I guess it could be a different problem, but still! Let us know if there's anything we can do to help--Curt can come look at it or something (not that he knows everything, but he IS a licensed general contractor, so he knows a lot...) In the meantime, we'll keep an eye out for boxes. I'm so sorry!
Dude, I have a zillion cardboard boxes! Unfortunately, I am in Florida and you are in Utah.
Also, I agree with Curt that they can't just kick you out like that. If your contract is not expired and they want you to evacuation the apartment then they need to put you in another apartment in the same complex. Because that is UBER lame.
chelsea im so sorry to hear about all this mess! i didn't realize you were having this problem. i know you guys were planning on moving sometime soon but i hope you're able to find a place and a job! good luck with everything!
Well, I guess this is a great time to find a great! place! We dont have card board, but rubber maids, they work much better! You can barrow some! I can probably help you move to!! Well I need a job, but before I find one I can help!!
Do you have another place lined up yet? Because if you don't, check back with me. I'm pretty sure Dominic and Holly will be out by the 31st, and you could stay here for a while if you need to! We've got two "extra" rooms for just such emergencies!
